THE construction of the US$300 million Hills Luxury Golf Estate, which will have the first Professional Golfers Association certified estate in Africa, is expected to start soon after the course layout and design were concluded.

Peter Matkovich, who designed the PGA length and standard golf course, has done work for seven of Africa’s top 10 golf courses, including the tenth-ranked Leopard Rock.

West Prop Holdings chief executive Ken Sharpe said they were ready for the construction of the golf estate that will have a residence where the residents can live, work, shop and enjoy other amenities.

“We are happy that the Hills Golf Estate has managed to open its doors to the first sale of residential stands with eight units already sold on the opening day on November 18.

“The Estate is set to be a major boost to the country’s tourism and sports industries once complete and it will be the one of its kind in Africa.

“We managed to engage the City of Harare in a partnership which saw more than 862 residential units pegged and will accommodate around 4 310 people.

“The Estate will have luxury villas, apartments, retirement homes, a shopping mall, clinic, swimming and tennis academy and a state-of-the-art golf course.

Punctuating the green fairways lined by giant baobab trees and other indigenous tree species will be exquisitely tailored villas, premium apartments and penthouses,” said Sharpe.

The first baobab trees were planted on Monday and more than 1 000 will be planted during the course of the estate’s construction. Modern architecture decorates the built-up landscape that constitutes two palatial double-story penthouses that come with rooftop swimming pools affording the owners a bird’s eye view of the undulating 18-hole golf course.

“We have used the best architects and designers and married the designs with our local environment. Our aim is to ensure quality is not compromised. We are bringing the best.

“We are a lifestyle developer. We do not develop and abandon the estate. We stay to ensure standards are always maintained,” added Sharpe..
