US$400 for child

Air Zimbabwe Rinda Mukondo was ordered to pay US$400 for the maintenance of the child by Magistrate Rekina Dzikiti. Last week Fungai Mwale told the court that by virtue of her child being obese, she needed US$300 for groceries, US$100 for transport to school, US$200 for incidentals and US$50 for medication, among other expenses. She indicated that the child needed a new bed because of his obesity.

Mwale indicated that Mukondo owned businesses whose clients were big companies like Econet Wireless. But Mukondo offered US$200 for the child’s monthly needs and dismissed the US$3 000 claim as ridiculous. He told the court that he was a mere employee who earned US$2 488.
“Mwale is also gainfully employed and earns US$800,” said Mukondo.
