TWO Bulawayo teenagers have each been sentenced to eight months in prison for stealing US$150, $130 and a cellphone from a locker room at a city swimming pool.  Mthandazo Gumbo and Zibusiso Ncube both aged 19 who live in Njube suburb stole from Mr Phethezakhe Mbano (25) who had left his belongings while he went swimming at Bulawayo Swimming Pool.

The duo pleaded guilty to a theft charge when they appeared before Bulawayo Magistrate Ms Nomasiko Ndlovu.

Gumbo and Ncube told the court that they stole the complainant’s property because they were hungry and wanted to buy food.

The magistrate sentenced each of them to eight months in prison and suspended four months from each for five years on condition that they do not commit a similar offence within that period.-@zinyuke98
