Utete resigns

Zimbabwe Newspapers (1980) Limited board chairman Dr Charles Utete has resigned after serving as chair for almost one and a half years. In a statement yesterday, Zimpapers said Dr Utete stepped down to pursue new national commitments elsewhere. “The chairman of Zimbabwe Newspapers (1980) Limited Dr Charles Utete has stepped down as a member of the board to pursue new national commitments elsewhere,” Zimpapers said.

“His tenure as chairman of Zimpapers saw the company re-capitalising almost all its operations following the commissioning of the new printing press and the implementation of a new editorial production and accounting system. The group also re-capitalised its Natprint factory with a refurbished CD102 machine imported from Italy.” He joined the Zimpapers board in September 2009 and was appointed chairman in October 2013. Before joining the Zimpapers board, Dr Utete had served for over 20 years as Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet.
