A CAREER fair held at the University of Zimbabwe has been hailed by students for providing them with a greater sense of understanding of the country’s various economic sectors.
Students from different schools, who attended the fair, said it gave them an insight into how companies could offer them job opportunities.
The students praised the event organisers for promoting career guidance, saying some graduates struggle to find employment as they would have pursued courses that are not in demand on the job market.
The students said they now have an idea of what they should study, and which organisations can offer them jobs, which match their studies.
“We have a challenge of lacking career guidance, so this will help us know where to look for jobs or industrial attachment,” said Nyasha Mugabe, a UZ student.
Miss University of Zimbabwe, Karen Katsande, thanked organisations and different brands which participated in the career fair.
“This allowed us to interact with our future employers.
“I suggest that this be done more often to enable students to be well versed with industry dynamics,” said Katsande.
CornerStone Executive College teacher, Neshto Muyambo, said the fair was crucial in developing talent, from which the country’s future workforce can be developed.
“This is a critical platform for nurturing and developing future manpower to develop the country,” he said.
