UZ student Tendai Makore wins main prize for innovation

University of Zimbabwe student Tendai Makore emerged as the overall winner at the Presidential Innovation Fair Awards Ceremony today and walked away with the ED Mnangagwa Presidential Best Commercialised Innovation of the Year accolade.

President Mnangagwa handed over the award, flanked by the Minister of Higher and Tertiary Education, Innovation, Science and Technology Development, Ambassador Fredrick Shava and UZ Vice Chancellor Professor Paul Mapfumo.

Makore’s project on essential oils was recognised as the most outstanding in terms of market readiness and economic value.

She was rewarded with a trophy, a certificate and US$50 000.
