One of SABC’s top drama series, Uzalo, is said to be pursuing the lead actor in Mzansi Magic’s award-winning soapie Isibaya, Siyabonga Thwala, who plays the role of Mpiyakhe Zungu. The actor, who joined Isibaya three years ago after appearing in shows such as Generations, Scandal!, Soul City and Isidingo, has since turned into one of the soapies lead actors.
According to Sunday Sun, Uzalo producers are keen on having him join their production and are even prepared to fork out any amount to secure him.
“Siyabonga is in a difficult situation. He’s aware of this and is still weighing his options – as Isibaya treats him like a king,” a source told the paper.
Another source said: “Siyabonga is doing very well in business and acting. He just bought a new BMW X5 . . . if he migrates to Durban, that won’t be an issue.”
When contacted for comment, Mzansi Magic said they were unaware their top talent was being headhunted while Radebe said he had not heard from Uzalo. – TimesLive.
