Three schools in the Uzumba-Maramba-Pfungwe district have received a donation of computers and television sets from a senior Government official. Minister of State for Provincial Affairs for Mashonaland East Province, Simbaneuta Mudarikwa donated 10 television sets to Mugabe Secondary School while Chitimbe and Chimhodzi primary schools got 10 computers each.

Minister Mudarikwa said that he made the donation as part of his initiatives to enhance learning among pupils in the constituency especially on current affairs issues.

“Young people from rural areas also need to access information on relevant social, political and economic issues,” he said.

“They need to know what is happening inside their country and what is also taking place elsewhere in the world.”
Minister Mudarikwa said that education was the basic tool for empowerment.

“The Government championed the promotion of education since independence and this has seen Zimbabwe attain top literacy rate rankings in Africa,” he said.

“We need to avail learning materials to our schools to consolidate gains made in the education sector.”

Minister Mudarikwa, who is also House of Assembly member for Uzumba, is also supporting the construction of Wombire Clinic which will serve more than 10 villages once complete. At present, people in the area walk more than 14km to receive treatment at Manyika Clinic.

Minister Mudarikwa has also provided schools in the constituency with building material as part of efforts to improve the learning environment in the constituency.
