SEKE based charity organisation, VaChirenda Centre of Hope (VCH), will this Friday launch a women’s football team as they commemorate the women’s month.
The launch will take place at Madamombe Secondary where selected players will join VCH Swans Football Club registered in the Eastern Region.
Member of Parliament for Seke, Munyaradzi Kashambe, has partnered VCH as one of the sponsors.
Aspiring footballers from Kandava Secondary School, Jonas High School, Chimamhunga Secondary School, and Chikonde Secondary will take part in the tournament.

Soccer legends, coaches and former players are set to grace the event.
A brainchild of US based philanthropist and girl child rights defender, Xoey Chimombe, the tournament is part of their organisation’s corporate social responsibility to empower the girl child.
Speaking to H-Metro, Chimombe said it was all system go.
“The tournament is called VCH Swans Football Tournament.
“This tournament is going to be a scouting tournament from the young girls to be in the VCH Swans Football Club, which is registered with ZIFA.
This club is under VaChirenda Centre of Hope.
“We are trying to come up with a women’s team that comes from Seke district,” she said.
Chimombe, who has been holding a number of projects to empower women in the district, said the scouting tournament will be held annually.
“This tournament shall be done every year in the month of March as we will be celebrating the women’s month by empowering women via sports.
“Our vision is in line with this year’s theme for women’s month #Embrace equity. We have received a lot of support from our sponsors who are listed below,” she said.

Xoey said the day said lucky girls will be honoured at the event while all the participants will get consolation prizes.
“The prizes to be won on the day comprises the VCH Swans floating trophy which shall be given to the winning team.
Honourable Kashambe will sponsor the player of the tournament trophy as well as medals.
She added:
“On this event, we are also going to host our perpetual events thus Donate-A-Pad as we will be distributing pads to school girls.
“We will also promote our campaign dubbed “Dzidzisa Mwanasikana” as we will be donating stationary. We are expecting about 3500 girls or more.”
Schweppes, Bamm Stationers, Shamwari Yemwanasika, Tinovimba Trust, Betterworld Sports Shop, The Wellness Champion Trust, Daisies Foundation and Nyahokwe Mall are some of the sponsors behind this tournament.
