THIS Saturday is Valentine’s Day, but dear students, remember this: your main focus right now is your education and your future. If you do not receive chocolates, flowers or gifts, do not worry at all, your time will surely come.
For now, work on becoming a person of value. Read your books, build your character and grow your mind. When you invest in yourself, you will naturally attract people of value later in life.
The greatest and most genuine love you are receiving at this stage comes from your parents and guardians. They sacrifice daily to see you succeed. Appreciate that love and do not pressure yourself by comparing your life with others who may receive gifts on Saturday. Comparison only steals your joy.
Sadly, some students become stressed about Valentine’s Day. Some may steal from their parents, misuse their pocket money, sell their belongings or even their phones just to impress others. Some will be taken to lodges and sleep around, this is not good and can lead to serious consequences that may affect your health, safety and future.
Remember, Valentine’s Day is just one day, but the choices you make can affect your whole life. Be grounded. Be wise. Make choices that protect your dreams and your dignity. Celebrate self-love by focusing on your studies, setting goals and respecting yourself. True love will come at the right time, when you are ready. Until then, focus on your books, your values and your future.
