The framework is a policy that aims to increase women’s participation in the economy and eliminate gender discrimination.

BBWEF was adopted in 2010 and focuses on key economic sectors like agriculture, mining, tourism, and manufacturing.

Being hosted by the ministry in partnership with the International Labour Organisation, the validation workshop brought delegates from the line ministry and Government departments, and representatives from different women lobby groups.

In her keynote address, Minister of Women Affairs, Community, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Permanent Secretary Dr Mavis Sibanda said the framework will provide an action plan meant to enhance the economic status of women.

She said when Women thrive, communities flourish and economies grow.

Dr Sibanda said during the tenure of the framework the ministry implemented a line of women empowerment projects which include the establishment of Women Microfinance Bank and one-stop facilities for the fight against gender-based violence among other programmes.
