Valley Visions scoops prestigious ZNCC award

BULAWAYO-based company, Valley Visions Investments — a supplier of fruit and fresh farm produce — has been awarded the prestigious Second Runner -up to Best Manager of the Year accolade at the 2025 Matabeleland Annual Business Awards, hosted by the Zimbabwe National Chamber of Commerce (ZNCC).

Despite being less than three years old and still in its formative stages, the company was recognised for its significant influence and impact in the business sector, outperforming several well-established competitors nominated for the same award.

Valley Visions’ Sub-Business Unit Head, Mr Letmore Nyagura, expressed his appreciation, describing the recognition as highly motivating.

He noted that the award has had a profound impact on the company, serving as a testament to the effectiveness of the strategies they have implemented in running their operations successfully.

He emphasised the company’s customer-first philosophy, stating that their approach is centred on prioritising the needs of their clientele. This strategy, he said, has enabled the establishment of diverse and efficient supply chains.

“The company operates in collaboration with farms located in Umguza and Nyamandlovu, where we grow a variety of crops including cabbages, tomatoes, potatoes, onions and butternuts, among other fruits and vegetables. We also supply meat products. Valley Visions has gained considerable traction in the market, supplying local hotels and supermarkets that rely on us for a consistent and reliable supply of food products,” he said.

Mr Nyagura said that their focus remains on building the brand and serving customers with dedication.

“It is ultimately more rewarding to focus on doing your job well rather than simply chasing profits. It’s heartening to know that there are people who recognise your efforts, especially during challenging times when businesses face critical obstacles,” he said.

However, the company has not been without its challenges. Power outages have occasionally disrupted operations, but Mr Nyagura noted that such setbacks have only strengthened their resilience and encouraged more strategic thinking in navigating unforeseen difficulties.

Despite the presence of numerous food markets and agro-based businesses in Bulawayo, Valley Visions has managed to maintain its relevance by crafting customer-oriented solutions and ensuring smooth operations.

“I encourage every dedicated, upcoming entrepreneur in the food sector to remain true to themselves. Focus on delivering quality service — profits will naturally follow when customers are satisfied,” he advised.

The company’s growth has led to the formation of various sub-units, streamlining operations across departments.

Mr Nyagura explained that they have a farm manager supported by agronomists, with similar structures in place across other segments of the business.

Although Valley Visions simultaneously runs both a farm and a food supply company, Mr Nyagura said that segmentation has helped maintain the quality of both produce and service, ensuring a strong market presence.

“Segmentation has allowed us to maximise efficiency within each department. What sets us apart is the effort we invest in our vision, which is centred on product quality. We’ve received positive feedback from the market. Since we produce most of our goods in-house, they reach customers in excellent condition, with minimal handling compared to companies that source from distant suppliers,” he added.

The company’s expansion has also led to the successful establishment of a small retail outlet, complementing its efforts to broaden its production base beyond Bulawayo.

“We now have a branch in Victoria Falls and a small depot operating in Harare, which we plan to develop into a full branch,” he said.

Valley Visions Investments was initially founded by George Moses Kudya, a farmer and the current Regional Chief Executive Officer (CEO). The company began as a supplier to the informal sector.

Last year, Valley Visions proudly represented Matabeleland at the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF), where it earned a bronze award as a first-time exhibitor.
