Various sporting activities lined up

basketball, netball, table tennis, football, rugby, wrestling and softball.
This year’s event is running under the theme ‘move, learn and discover’.
ZOC operations officer, Nomsa Mpofu, said they were looking forward to get the best runners for the 5km and 10km race.
“We used to have athletics alone but we now have other disciplines.
“For other disciplines it is not competitive, it’s just participating.
“But as for the 5km and 10km run, we are actually looking forward to get the best runners and we are going to give them prizes.
“For the other disciplines we are just going to pick the best of the day and give them some prizes just to encourage them but athletics it’s obvious they will get prizes.
“We are also going to have cultural activities for the young, those from primary schools,” said Mpofu.
Mpofu said other provinces will be hosting the event.
“This is a national event. All provinces are going to hold the event and we are going to do it through the Sports Commission.
“Bulawayo and Midlands are preparing for the event and some of the representatives will be coming to Chitungwiza to see how things are going. Last year they did well.
“It’s a recreational event where we are promoting people to learn new things and promote a healthy living style.
“The only difference in this year’s event is that we have people partnering with us and obviously we are trying to raise it from last year,” said Mpofu.
