Red hot mbira player, Vee Mhofu, says he salutes fans for their unwavering support.

He said he was pleasantly surprised by the appeal his music has in both urban and rural areas.

‘‘I’m grateful that we are being following countrywide, judging by the bookings and demand for our music. ‘‘Last month, the people of Masembura in Bindura embraced us in a special way at the burial of mbira legend Mbuya Stella Chiweshe.

‘‘We realised we actually have a huge fan-base there and we are planning to spread our wings around the country,’’ he said.

Vee Mhofu, who fronts Dzivarembira, also hailed Harare fans for their support.

‘‘Our fans in Harare are fabulous as they believe in us. To think that we hold four or five shows per week is quite amazing. We hope to continue doing our best,’’ he said.

Meanwhile, Vee Mhofu is performing at Londoners Sports Bar in Strathaven tonight.

Tomorrow, the group holds another show at ZimCafe. He performs at Mashwede in Glen View every Wednesday.

He has a Thursday slot at Jameson Hotel, as the demand for traditional music rises.
