A Harare man says he is living in fear of his ex-wife he is accusing of insulting him and sending her uncle to threaten him.
Jonathan Zonga expressed his fears at the Harare Civil Court and applied for a protection order, saying his ex-wife, Nokuthula Chipetezu, frequents his workplace to insult him in front of his colleagues.
Magistrate Tamara Chibindi granted the protection order.
“I am now living in fear as her uncle, who works at Borrowdale Police Station, called and threatened to shoot me.
“My ex-wife is always calling me demanding money, and coming to my workplace to insult me, and I want that to stop.
“The last time she came with our child, who was not feeling well and aggressively told me to take the child to the clinic. I had to excuse myself from work just to take the child to the clinic, while she was there,” said Jonathan.
Nokuthula opposed the application claiming she had never insulted or visited his workplace.
“Every time he calls me saying he wants to give me money for the upkeep of the child, but when I go to meet him, he says he does not have any money.
“He is refusing to take care of our second child and denying paternity. When I was pregnant, he asked me to abort,” she said.
Magistrate Chibindi ordered Nokuthula not to insult or visit Jonathan’s workplace.
