THE South African duo of Vetkuk and Mahoota set Eden Night Club ablaze with a dazzling performance on Saturday night.
Performing at the club’s first major gig, the pair had fans on their feet all night.Local DJs, Marcus Andro, Scooby and Slamma also put in tidy performances as curtain raisers, setting the tone for what turned out to be an entertaining show.
Unannounced, Mahoota and Vetkuk took to the turntables but the difference could be felt as their presence built an electrifying atmosphere in the club.
With Mahoota on the left and Vetkuk on the right, they brought the house down, more than quenching their fans’ thirst for their unique sounds.
It was easy to see why they are ranked among the best kwaito and house DJs of their era. There was a palpable current that seemed to lock the revellers into the same wave with their famous guests.
After the show, fans said they were delighted with the South Africans’ display which they said justified the entrance fee.
“At least they did their best and I loved their performance. Paying $15 was a bit steep but the entertainment provided warranted it,” said a fan, who identified herself only as Trish.
Another fan, identified as Tafara, said he was not happy because he had missed the duo’s performance though he had paid to see them.
“I didn’t see them or hear any of their songs because I was drunk before they performed. I slept and woke up as the club was about to close. Next time they should come in early and perform for us,” he said.
The Via Orlando hit-makers have released five successful albums with Lesedi and Tshiamo, being their best-selling efforts.
