SOLUSI University Vice-Chancellor, Professor Khumbulani Mpofu, has discussed his vision for the institution and plans for revitalisation.This includes the construction of a hospital on campus and state-of-the-art engineering workshop aimed at keeping in step with Education 5.0.
Prof Mpofu also aims to attract learners from diverse backgrounds by aligning the university with exemplary ethical, moral and Christ-like standards.
In addition, the Seventh-day Adventist-run university is considering the establishment of a Faculty of Law, implementing a smart campus with dependable connectivity and consistent electricity and revitalising its farming projects.
The institution embodies Christian principles and values, offering a holistic education that integrates faith with academic excellence.
The university welcomed Prof Mpofu as its new Vice Chancellor, succeeding his predecessor Prof Ephraim Thobela Gwebu whose tenure ended on May 31, 2022.
“I am committed to developing a strategic campus that fosters an inclusive environment, attracting learners from diverse backgrounds to the institution. Solusi is a highly reputable Christian institution and strives to provide quality holistic and transformational education based on the Seventh-day Adventist Church philosophy of education which seeks to equip students to serve God and the community,” he said.
“The institutional recapitalisation has already started because we are currently conducting 13 weeks of fasting and praying to raise funds for our projects which will revive our institution.”
Prof Mpofu said Solusi is poised to become a centre of innovation in response to the advent of Education 5.0.
“We are planning to establish a state-of-the-art engineering workshop aimed at repairing machinery essential for both educational purposes and daily operations. We are exploring the construction of a hospital on campus to facilitate the realisation of the objectives of Education 5.0,” he said.
“The establishment of a Faculty of Law, for instance, will not only attract learners from Africa, but also internationally. Furthermore, we aim to implement a smart compass with dependable connectivity and consistent electricity, supplemented by solar backup, within the next five years. This will elevate Solusi to new heights.”
Prof Mpofu said the university is also considering revitalising its farming projects.
“We have already begun preparations to cultivate 300 hectares of land. The university is collaborating with various organisations committed to sponsoring our agricultural initiatives,” he said.
