The pageant, which will see aspiring models from members of the African, Caribbean and Pacific states competing for the crown, will be held from April 23 to May 19.
This is the first time Zimbabwe will be represented at the pageant.

Chidarike was selected to participate in the event after organisers saw her profile and pictures that had seen her voted Miss October in the Face of Zimbabwe 2012 pageant.
The 21-year-old is now seeking sponsorship to travel to Turkey as well as for her to complete the competition requirements which include hosting an event for charity and producing a seven-minute documentary to market Zimbabwe.

She said her documentary would highlight the economic, social and cultural aspects of Zimbabwe. “I am more interested in bringing out the cultural aspects, which will be of great value to most Zimbabweans.
“The documentary will be considered in the adjudication process,” she said.

For charity, she said she would host a fashion show focusing on work done by young designers in order to promote their designs.
“I have decided to host a fashion show in Harare for young designers and all proceeds will go to charity.
“One of the pageant’s main focus is supporting various charity organisations worldwide and this is an important and positive factor which should be adopted by all organisations.

“There is an urgent need to address issues to do with assisting the less privileged members of society to enable them to fend for themselves by assisting them to gain necessary life skills,” she said.
Chidarikire, who is a marketing student at a college in Harare, said she would appreciate any sponsorship from the business community and well-wishers to enable her participation in the event.

Responding to questions on what she would do with the US$10 000 prize money, the soft spoken Chidarikire said she would donate half of her winnings to charity and use the rest to put herself through university as she wants to attain a Degree in Mass Communication.
Apart from the US$10 000 prize money, the winner will also get a car and a one-year contract with an internationally acclaimed modelling agency among other prizes.
