KENYAN singer and songwriter Victoria Kimani has joined the growing list of African artistes featured on Inner Visions, an Afro House music project curated by Zimbabwean DJ and producer Dr Feel.
Kimani features on a track titled Joy, produced by Dr Feel and DJ Stavo, bringing her signature Afropop and R&B sound to the Afro House genre.
The project has attracted attention in recent weeks, with several African artistes coming on board.
It aims to showcase Zimbabwean electronic music talent while creating opportunities for artistes to reach audiences beyond their home markets.
Inner Visions is scheduled for release on November 27 under South African record label Mansa Musa. The project was created by South Africa-based Zimbabwean DJ and producer Dr Feel, with a focus on collaboration among African musicians and promoting Zimbabwean Afro House on the international stage.
On Joy, Kimani’s songwriting and vocals blend with the Afro House sounds of Dr Feel and DJ Stavo. The collaboration brings together different African musical influences, reflecting the project’s aim of creating music that appeals to both local and international audiences.
Other artistes featured on Inner Visions include Nitefreak, Dr Chaii, Ryan Synth, MIčI, Reverb,
TAPIWA, Simbai, Tashinga, Shona (SA), PA NGU, Afro Wav, Takue SBT, Josh Major, Daphfinee and Taarof Adder.
The project seeks to build connections among African artistes while giving Zimbabwean electronic music greater international exposure. It also aims to position the country’s Afro House sound within the wider global electronic music scene.
Kimani, who has five studio albums to her name, is known for blending Afropop and R&B. She has built her career through collaborations with African and international artistes, as well as partnerships with major global brands.
The Recording Academy has described her as “Kenya’s Best Kept Secret”.
Her involvement in Inner Visions adds an established East African voice to a project that seeks to bring together artistes from across the continent, using music to bridge national and genre boundaries.
With its November 27 release date approaching, Inner Visions continues to expand its line-up as Dr
Feel and his collaborators seek to take Zimbabwean Afro House to a wider international audience.
