Unlike back then where glamorous wedding cards used to mark an anticipated announcement, now wedding organisers just need to create a video link and list of contacts to forward the wedding invites via WhatsApp,A� making it a one-minute business.
Facebook and Whatsapp are by and large the medium of choice doing away with that door-to-door or phone call, a�?I have your invitation carda�? kind of thing.
In a visual format, it now takes a few minutes to know the date, venue, theme of the wedding and of course who is getting married and their vows, not leaving out their love journey.
a�?Everyone is very busy and a few people get to know where their relatives live and besides family members are all over the world which makes it difficult to distribute invitation cards.
a�?With video invitations, life becomes so easy and no one will have an excuse of saying I was not invited as people get to share by sending to each other,a�? said a wedding planner Rumbidzai Moyo.
However, some according to Moyo,A� miss the mark creating long boring videos.
a�?The video should be short and straight to the point giving out the necessary details of the day of the wedding, venue, time and definitely details of the couple,a�? said Moyo.
She is of the view that anything above four minutes is considered too long for an invitation.
Vusu-muzi Maseko, a video expert said videos were also done for birthdays, kitchen teas, anniver-saries and baby welcome parties.
