Villagers of Mambwere in Ward 12 in Mutare South have called on Government to assist them with Zupco buses to enable them to take their fresh produce to markets in Mutare.
The village headman, Mr Happymore Nyamana, told The Herald that most of the people from his area survived on market gardening and the recent fare hikes was making it expensive to transport their produce to the market.
Nyamana said: “People in my area survive on market gardening and it is now difficult for them to travel to and from Mutare because the fares being charged by private kombi operators are just too high.”
“We are therefore appealing to Government to provide us with Zupco buses that are cheaper so that we remain in business,” said Nyamana.
