adminThe veterinary inputs, which include Tickbuster powder, Tickgrease, Closavet, Delta tick and Venton oil will be distributed equally to villagers in Moza, Madlambudzi, Ndolwane, Somnene, Village 13 and Figtree.
Addressing villagers at the Moza Veterinary office, Cde Ndlovu said President Mugabe donated the inputs to protect and boost the national herd in a bid to eradicate poverty among the people in the district.
“President Mugabe saw it fit to provide people with these essential inputs to protect our cattle from diseases and improve the national herd,” said Cde Ndlovu.
“The president gave the people of Zimbabwe the freedom that they needed and in any independent country freedom comes first before empowerment. We fought for this land so that we could utilise it the best way we can.”
He urged the people in the district to appreciate what their leaders do for them, saying the late vice-president, Dr Joshua Nkomo realised that white people still wanted to come back for the country’s resources and they decided to rule the country by dividing the people.
“We must be wary of people who claim to be helping us yet their aim is to divide people and take our resources from us. We have to remember that our future lies in what we do for our children today.
“We have come a long way to liberate the people of Zimbabwe and we must realise that no development has taken place since the year 2000 due to political disturbances,” said Cde Ndlovu.
He urged the villagers to use the inputs wisely in empowering themselves.
“Let us not be found wanting in this respect. Every headman and chief must ensure that the inputs are distributed fairly. We do not want a situation whereby villagers without cattle are given these inputs because they will not use them.
“We will be bringing more inputs soon because Bulilima District is the country’s hub for cattle rearing, but we have nothing left now,” said Cde Ndlovu.
Chief Michael Kandana expressed gratitude to the president, saying most people in the area could not afford to buy the inputs.
“We would like to thank the president for being very supportive and remembering us all the time. We are happy that he acknowledges that we need such things for us to be able to fight poverty. It is unfortunate that most of us have no money to buy the inputs.
“This development will benefit everyone, even villagers who do not have cattle because traditionally we lend one another cattle to carry out our farming activities. The more cattle we have, the more developed we would be,” said Chief Kandana.
He said the multiplication of cattle in the district was a huge development as their sons would also be able to pay lobola for their brides, a sign of dignity among the people of Zimbabwe.
He also urged farmers attending the handover ceremony, to go to their nearest Grain Marketing Board (GMB) depot, where they could access seed maize and fertilizer on credit and pay after they harvest their crops.
The Government recently launched the new credit scheme.
The Bulilima District Administrator, Mrs Ethel Moyo, veterinary officers, government officials, traditional leaders and villagers attended the handover ceremony.
