SONGBIRD Vimbai Zimuto has defended her nude art saying it’s an easier way of expressing herself.
The Netherlands-based artist said she prefers not to talk a lot in public.
“As a response to what I do, I am not an everyday nude model or artist. I only do my artistry when I feel like saying something in my own way.
“If you haven’t noticed, I barely communicate verbally here, but that does not mean I can’t talk. Mumukanwa mangu mune chokwadi choputsa hukama,” she said.
She said people should sometimes communicate through action.
“There are so many ways to communicate silently; not everyone understands verbal outbursts.
“In fact, the more you shout, the less they hear you. Sometimes shout silently,” she said.
Vimbai said the problem is that people have created their own set of norms which they believe everyone should live according to.
“Who is asking society to normalise anything here? There is a lot that we have normalised zvisina kana kumaketwa.
“Child marriages is one of them, no one is going around saying marry young fresh meat, but you are doing it in that so called conservative society.
“This is why I don’t talk, you are not ready for the truth, hiding behind hidden witchcraft pretending to be morally moulded. Imika imi,” she said.
