ZIMBABWE’S premier professional golfer, Scott Vincent, delivered a strong performance at the Smart Infinity Philippine Open 2025 Golf Championship, finishing tied for sixth place at the Manila Southwoods Golf and Country Club in Carmona, Cavite.

Vincent was part of a formidable field that teed off at the Asian Tour’s opening event, which marked the tournament’s return to the Asian Tour scene after a decade-long absence.

The 72-hole tournament offered a lucrative purse, with Vincent pocketing US$9 870 for his efforts.

Vincent’s impressive rounds of 69, 70, 66, and 69 earned him a total score of 274, tying him with Aidric Chan, Kazuki Higa, Danthai Boonma, and Xiao Bowen.

This top-10 finish propelled Vincent to eighth place on the Asian Tour Order of Merit standings, with 41,50 points.

Frenchman Julien Sale made history by winning the tournament on his Asian Tour debut, carding an 11-under par score to claim the US$70 000 top prize.

Sale’s spectacular final-round 65 secured his victory in the $500 000 purse tournament.

Sale, a recent qualifying school graduate, made history by becoming the first athlete to win on his maiden Asian Tour debut to follow in Tiger Woods’ 1997 win in the Asian Honda Classic in Thailand.

Japan’s Tomoyo Ikemura and Thailand’s Sadom Kaewkanjana tied for second place at 10-under par, while Australian Kevin Yuan finished fourth at 282.

Filipino star Miguel Tabuena surged to tie for fifth place at 273 with Thai Poom Saksansin and South Africa’s Ian Snyman.
