Vision 2030 manual gains regional endorsement

A book by Dr Tinashe Muzamhindo has reportedly been endorsed by more than four Southern African countries.

Recently launched in Harare, the manual is a comprehensive book that clearly outlines a framework Zimbabwe needs to use to realise Vision 2030, which seeks to create an upper middle-income economy by the year 2030. Following up on its Harare launch, the book has been well-received in Zambia, Botswana, Tanzania and Namibia, among other countries.

Former Tanzanian president (2005-2015) Jakaya Kikwete recently endorsed the book, as did Edgar Lungu, a former Zambian president. Dr Francis Gatare, the chairperson of the Rwanda Governance Board, also spoke highly about the book.

Kaitesu Eugeni of the Institute of Policy Analysis and Research (IPAR-Rwanda), also gave the manual a thumbs up.

During the book launch in Harare, former Finance Minister Patrick Chinamasa and Harare Provincial Affairs Minister Charles Tavengwa endorsed the work.

According to Dr Muzamhindo, the purpose of the manual is to complement the great work that is being done by President Mnangagwa in driving the 2030 agenda.

He said the regional recognition and acceptance that the manual is getting means a lot to him and the country.

“Botswana and Namibia send in their diplomats and got copies.

“This recognition from prominent and ordinary people speaks volumes, meaning that Africa’s transformation agenda is being expanded,” Dr Muzamhindo said.

The author, who is the chief executive officer of the Zimbabwe Institute of Strategic Thinking, said President Mnangagwa’s Vision 2030 must be supported and followed through to its final conclusion.

“President Mnangagwa’s Vision 2030 document is a brilliant idea. He meant well when he crafted the vision.

“In supporting his vision, we need to adopt a national planning structure and to strategically coordinate the whole framework and to strengthen the monitoring system,” he said.

The author also notes the need for the adoption of a comprehensive evaluation approach and to come up with a proper strategic implementation framework.
