Voices of Praise aims to win souls for Christ

AN upcoming acapella gospel group, Voices of Praise (VOP) has decided to use gospel music to reach out to the world in praise and convert souls to Christ.

Formed in 2004, the group started as a group of brothers who used to sing in the Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) church as a way of praising God.

The VOP manager, Calton Ncube, said after realising that singing helps them fulfil the purpose of winning souls,  they invited more people to join the group.

“Inspired by other successful acapella groups like Shower Power and Reality Seven from other cities and countries, we formed the group in 2004 as brothers. Our goal is to keep praising and preaching through songs and healing hearts through music. The group has nine members and we all believe that coming together with our different voices and personalities to be one voice we can achieve our goal and the vision of expanding the Kingdom of God, impacting on people’s lives and lovingly embracing everyone,” he said.

Ncube said they were working hard to attain their goals.

“Since we started, we have not done much because we are SDA-centred mostly hence all we do is within the church but we have performed in quite a number of church concerts and we also perform at weddings, be it singing church songs or circular music.

“All along we have been releasing singles and  last year we had four singles titled Sekuseduze, Jes’othand’umoya wami, Sojabula and Jerusalem. We recently came up with an extended play which was released in December last year titled Sing to him with five tracks namely Inyang’enkulu which was taken from SDA hymn book, Siyabonga, Sizohamba, Swing down and Sing to him,” Ncube said.
