Volleyball association releases 2012 calendar

The traditional season opener, the Pre-Season Gala, will be held on 25-26 February. Clubs use this tournament to gauge their strength before the start of the season.
The league will start on 17 March.
Bulawayo will host the Zimbabwe Open from 24-25 March. The tournament was last year by won city clubs Railstars men’s team and ZRP Raiders in the women’s category.
In a move aimed at promoting beach volleyball in the city, the BVA will conduct a beach volleyball coaching clinic in April.
Another coaching clinic will be held from 7-9 May to impart basic coaching skills to individuals interested in coaching volleyball at schools or clubs.
The city of Bulawayo will also play host to another tournament dubbed Volleyball Mania on 16-17 June.
After this tournament, clubs will take a break to prepare for the Mid-Season Tournament to be held on 28-29 July.
There will also be another break in August during the Zimbabwe National Youth Games and the games will resume on 25 August.
The End of Season tournament will be held on 27-28.
“This is our working calendar but it may be modified as the season progresses,” said secretary general Brian Manuel.
Meanwhile, Khanyile Dlamini and Brenda Mundiya have been co-opted as vice-chairpersons technical and administration respectively.
Sithabile Khumalo, a teacher at Eveline High School, is the association’s provincial chairperson.
