THE leader of one of the biggest traditional churches in the country Zion Christian Church (ZCC), Bishop Nehemiah Mutendi, has urged progressive Zimbabweans to register and vote for a party that has a rich history of having the people at heart and is anti neo-colonialism.
Addressing hundreds of ZCC members gathered in Mkoba 6 yesterday for a memorial service of Mrs Nyaradzo Chuma – wife to Elder Habias Juiro, who died in November 2016 – Bishop Mutendi said patriotic Zimbabweans should not let the country go back into the hands of the former colonisers who use their stooge opposition political parties.
Mrs Chuma was respected by the church for pioneering its growth in Gweru together with her husband.
He said Operation Restore Legacy brought about the new dispensation that was going to take the country to greater glory.
“In Zion, we do not have elections, but the country is going for elections soon.
“A fool will not vote. But a wise person will go and register to vote; to vote and protect the legacy of this country.
“To vote for the old people who have wisdom and can correct anomalies,” he said.
Bishop Mutendi said there was no need to start any fight or quarrels as the country moved towards elections.
“This country no longer needs quarrels. We are in the process of correcting it. We do not want people who go about debating.
“We want people with action. We need action like you saw when Operation Restore Legacy was undertaken.
“Not even a chicken or an egg was destroyed and that is the action we want,” said Bishop Mutendi.
He said the Command Agriculture was one way of making the country a bread basket of the region.
Bishop Mutendi said Zimbabwe is our God-given country, adding that people should vote wisely for leaders who have a history of running it.
Bishop Mutendi, who was also encouraging his church members to visit Defe Dopota place of worship in Gokwe in August, said they had moved the date to August 10 from the traditional July 20 to accommodate school children.
