VICE PRESIDENT Dr Constantino Chiwenga arrived here yesterday ahead of President Yoweri Museveni’s inauguration and swearing-in ceremony scheduled for this morning.

The Vice President is representing President Mnangagwa.

He was accompanied by several senior Government officials and his wife, Colonel Miniyothabo Chiwenga.

On arrival, the Vice President was formally received by Zimbabwe’s Deputy Ambassador to Uganda, Ms Silibaziso Manyonga, who led the official welcome delegation.

The reception also included Uganda’s Democratic Party (DP) president and Minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs, Justice Norbert Mao, who was present to welcome the visiting Zimbabwean delegation.

The visit comes as Uganda prepares for the inauguration proceedings marking the continuation of President Museveni’s tenure in the wake of the recent national elections held in January.

Last night, the Vice President joined several other visiting delegations led by Heads of State and Governments at a dinner hosted in their honour by President   Museveni.

The banquet was an emphasis on state-to-state relations in the lead-up to Uganda’s inauguration events.

It also provided a setting for senior officials to engage and exchange courtesies ahead of the ceremonies scheduled for today.
