VP Chiwenga in Vic Falls for African Constitutional Courts Congress

Vice President Dr Constantino Chiwenga is in Victoria Falls for the Conference of African Constitutional Courts (CJCA).


He was welcomed by the Minister of Justice Legal and Parliamentary Affairs Ziyambi Ziyambi, Matabeleland North Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution Richard Moyo, Chief Justice Luke Malaba among other dignitaries.

The legal fraternity stakeholders from across the African continent is converging in the resort city of Victoria Falls for the seventh congress of the CJCA which began on Wednesday and will run up to Saturday.

Discussions are expected to also focus on the role of constitutional courts in upholding democracy, protecting human rights, ensuring the rule of law. Zimbabwe is on record for its commitment to upholding constitutionalism and promoting best practices.

The theme of the congress is: “Human dignity as a value and founding principle: A source of constitutional interpretation, protection and application of fundamental human rights”.
