VP Chiwenga to headline Inaugural Construction Summit

THE Zimbabwe Building Contractors Association (ZBCA) inaugural regional construction summit has started in Victoria Falls with Vice President General (Retired) Dr Constantino Chiwenga expected to officiate at the official opening Thursday morning.
Building contractors, local authorities, regulatory authorities and line ministries are among those attending the summit which will end on Saturday.
It is being held under the theme: “Leveraging investment in infrastructure as a catalysts for economic growth.”
The summit seeks to unpack the state of the construction sector in the country, role of infrastructure in economic development, investment strategies partnerships, opportunities tendering procedures and also financing models.
Speaking on the first day, delegates said the construction industry has potential to prosper as infrastructure is a pre-condition for economic growth.
The state of the road network is also one of the areas to be discussed about.
Infrastructure is also key in urbanisation and driving the nation towards Vision 2030, African Union Agenda 2063 and United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
