VICE President Kembo Mohadi will on Friday headline the National Child Protection Conference set for the Zimbabwe International Exhibition Centre.
The conference brings together key stakeholders to strengthen efforts aimed at safeguarding the rights and well-being of children across the country.
Organised by the Government of Zimbabwe in collaboration with UNICEF and the Swedish Government, the conference is expected to provide a platform for dialogue, collaboration and action on child protection issues.
Government officials, civil society organisations, development partners, communities and children will participate in discussions centred on key child protection priorities, emerging challenges and sustainable solutions in line with Zimbabwe’s constitutional obligations and international commitments.
The conference comes at a time when Government is intensifying efforts to improve the welfare of children through the recently approved National Action Plan for Children IV (2026-2030).
In February this year, Cabinet approved the plan, reaffirming Government’s commitment to safeguarding children’s rights and ensuring that every child in Zimbabwe enjoys a dignified childhood.
The National Action Plan for Children IV provides a comprehensive roadmap for improving children’s well-being through evidence-based programming and strengthened multi-sectoral collaboration.
Among its key objectives are enhancing access to quality social services, strengthening child protection systems, building family and community resilience, eliminating child labour and ensuring effective enforcement of child-centred policies and legislation.
The conference is expected to generate recommendations that will strengthen child protection interventions and promote greater coordination among stakeholders working to advance the rights and welfare of children in Zimbabwe.
Zimbabwe continues to prioritise child protection as part of broader national development efforts under Vision 2030, with Government and its partners seeking to create a safe, inclusive and supportive environment for every child.
