Vice President Kembo Mohadi, who is the chairperson of the Cabinet Committee on State Occasions and National Monuments, has toured the venue of this year’s Independence celebrations to assess progress so far.

He was impressed by the preparations which are now at advanced stage with the majority of the works already complete.

“The progress that is taking place gives us assurance that on April 18, there will be order for us to host our 44th Independence Day celebrations,” he said.

Major roads in Buhera have been refurbished, while access roads to the venue have been constructed.

A modern pitch with changing rooms has been constructed at Murambinda B High School.

Murambinda A Primary and Murambinda B High schools are also getting a facelift with new classroom blocks being constructed and staff quarters while existing infrastructure is refurbished.

In addition, solar-powered boreholes are being sunk throughout the district to operationalise nutrition gardens that were established to enhance food and nutrition security as well as improve community livelihoods.
