VICE President Phelekezela Mphoko is expected to attend the International Day of Cooperatives’ commemorations slated for Phelandaba Stadium in Gwanda tomorrow.

Official proceedings will start at 9AM, organisers said.

The International Day of Cooperatives is an annual event marked on the first Saturday of July.

This year’s commemorations will be held under the theme “Future of Cooperative Model: Creativity, Innovation and Research”.

Chief business development officer in the Ministry of Small to Medium Enterprises and Cooperative Development in Matabeleland South, Richmond Ncube, confirmed the meeting.

“Everything is set and we’re happy with preparations. We’ve sensitised the people about the event.

“Cooperatives, stakeholders and members of the public are invited to attend in their large numbers,” he said.

Ncube said the day would bring cooperatives and small businesses together so that they share ideas on how to improve their operations.

He said the event would afford cooperatives and small businesses an opportunity to showcase their works.

Members of cooperatives from various sectors of the economy including manufacturing and housing are expected to attend.

SMEs Minister Sithembiso Nyoni and other government ministers are also expected to attend.
