THE Zimbabwe Tourism Authority (ZTA) is set to hold its first Annual General Meeting (AGM) on 17 June in Harare marking a significant milestone in the organisation’s corporate governance and accountability framework.

A major highlight of the AGM will be the statement from the Minister of Tourism and Hospitality Industry who is expected to give an overview of the year under review and outline Government expectations for the ensuing year.

The ministerial address is anticipated to provide insight into policy direction, sector performance, investment priorities, measures aimed at strengthening Zimbabwe’s position as a leading tourism destination and expectations for the ensuing year.

The AGM agenda includes the presentation and adoption of several key reports, among them the Chairperson’s Report, Chief Executive Officer’s Report, Financial Report, Governance and Compliance Report, as well as the Auditor’s Report.

The authority will also consider and ratify audited financial statements for the financial years ended December 31, 2023 and 2024.

Board fees and sitting allowances payable to non-executive directors for the years ending December 2023 and 2024 will also be tabled for ratification.

The AGM comes at a time when Zimbabwe’s tourism sector continues on a recovery and growth trajectory driven by increased international arrivals, domestic tourism promotion and infrastructure development.

ZTA has been intensifying destination marketing initiatives under the “Experience Zimbabwe” brand while leveraging major events, heritage tourism and Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions (MICE) tourism to boost arrivals and investment.
