Addressing thousands of people at Sipambi Business centre in Masvingo West, Vice President Mujuru said political differences should never be a source of enmity and acrimony among Zimbabweans.
She challenged Zimbabweans to take heed of the gospel of peace that was called for by the three leaders of the main political parties in the country-President Mugabe, MDC-T leader Mr Morgan Tsvangirai and Professor Welshman Ncube of the MDC-N.
They all appealed to their respective supporters to shun violence at a recent Indaba on anti-political violence held in Harare last month.
“I want to urge you to take the message of peaceful co-existence seriously especially now that we are approaching elections,” said VP Mujuru.
“We should say no to violence and peacefully co-exist as Zimbabweans, why should we harm each other when we are all Zimbabweans, let us take the message of our political leaders seriously who met during the meeting of the central committees of their respective political parties and spoke against violence.”
The Vice President urged Zimbabweans not to be used by some unscrupulous politicians to commit violence for their personal and selfish gains.
The Vice President also said government was keen to ensure that people were self-sufficient in food production. She handed over vegetable seed and barbed wire to various co-operatives in the Sipambi area and urged communities to develop a strong work ethic for the good of the nation.
