VP Mujuru’s namesake back in court

estranged husband who was seeking a downward variation of the maintenance order.
Some people attended the court session out of interest after noticing the name displayed on the court appearance roll.

The Vice-President’s name is spelt with an “I” in place of the “Y”, but that distinction could not be made when the name “Joyce Mujuru” was called out in the maintenance court.

Douglas Maposa, Mujuru’s estranged husband, wanted his maintenance order of US$200 to be varied downward to US$75. He told the court that he was failing to pay US$200 per month on his salary of US$450.

“I have a lot of expenses and I work in Chipinge. I am now married and my wife is four months pregnant,” said Maposa.

Responding to Maposa’s submissions Mujuru told the court that she understood her husband’s application, but the US$75 was meager.  Magistrate Ms Vongai Muchuchuti reduced the maintenance order from US$200 to US$90 per month.
