THE highly anticipated match pitting Gwanda based outfit, Vumbachikwe and premiership bound Chapungu was only five minutes away to be decided before a heavy downpour pounded Forbes and Thompson Stadium which forced the match officials to end the match.

The match was called off with the two sides still deadlocked at nil-all. The league’s acting chairman, Patrick Hill said he is yet to be furnished with all the necessary information and added that a position will be taken when he has consulted with members of his executive.

“I am out of office at the moment so am yet to receive a report of what transpired. Once all the necessary documentation comes we will sit down and determine whether there will be a replay or not as an executive,” he said.

Elsewhere, at Ascot Stadium Chrome Stars consolidated the third spot on the log standings at the same time piling more misery on relegation haunted Hardbody when the Stars edged the busmen 3 – 2 in a thrilling encounter.

The result left the chrome miners perched on third position with 63 points while Hardbody remain on 11th position with 28 points and have neighbours MSU to thank who beat Jessie Mine 1-0 to make sure that the goldminers remain in the relegation zone.

Whawha coach, Terrence Mhiripiri who made a come back after a two week sabbatical saw his charges playing a goalless draw against second placed Town United at the prisons grounds while asbestos miners turned on the power to subdue a determined NM Academy 2 –  1 at Gaths Mine Stadium in Mashava.

The result also compounded NM Academy’s relegation woes as they are fifth from bottom and a point away from Jessie Mine who have 26 points and on position 13.

Four teams will be relegated at the end of the season where Gwanda Ramblers, Tripple B Academy and Kwekwe Pirates have already been shown the exit door.
