MAGWEGWE Stars beat Cowdray Park Queens 2-1 in a Bulawayo Division One Women’s Soccer League match played on Saturday. Goals from Beatrice Dube and Isabel Dabahla revived Magwegwe Stars’ hopes of finishing in the top three with two games to go before the season ends.
Magwegwe Stars coach Lungile Ndlovu said they want to keep the youngsters together so that they become a dominant force next season.
“We have players who are in Form One, are still adjusting to playing in the league, if we keep them together I am positive next season they will be a strong force,” said Ndlovu.
Players such as goalkeeper Fidelis Mthombeni, Siphiwe Dube and Betrice Dube have been outstanding. ZRP Bulawayo and Inline Academy were awarded free points after Sigola Queens and Street Set failed to turn up for their matches.
Inline Academy and high riding Hwange Colliery will battle for national league berth in their last two games. Hwange lead the pack with 30 points while Inline Academy are two points behind.
