A close source to the Gaza Boss exclusively told Urban Islandz that they are working on an upcoming album due this summer.
“We have been toying with the idea since last year and numerous delays in the trial makes the time right to release a new album,” the source told us.
“The album will see some unreleased-never before-heard singles, some ones that we recently release like ‘Mr Bleach Chin’ that’s tearing up the place, and we will have a couple remix. The end result will be about 20 tracks,” the source continues.
The new Vybz Kartel album is not yet titled and a release date is not yet known, but the source told us that fans can look out for some new singles soon.
“Gaza fans can look out for some new singles soon,” the source added.
The source also told Urban Islandz that Vybz Kartel still has a huge catalogue of unreleased material.
“Vybz Kartel has a tonne of unreleased songs that we can choose from so he will remain relevant in dancehall for a long time if the trial continues to draw out,” the source said.
Since his arrest a year and a half ago, dancehall has seen the continued rise of some new faces including I-Octane, Khago, Konshens, and his own protege Tommy Lee.
Vybz Kartel returns to court on May 27 where he is expected to begin his defence on two murder charges.
His trial has seen numerous delays since his arrest in September 2011, prompting his loyal followers to cry foul. — Urban Islandz.
