Walking in Spirit: Conflict Resolution

Proverbs 17:27; “He who has knowledge spares his words, And a man of understanding is of a calm spirit.”

When was the last time you had a fight with someone, do you recall what the fight was about? It appears, a huge chunk of our happiness is stolen from us when we are constantly involved in conflict with the people around us.

A lot of pain that can be avoided is inflicted as a result of arguments and fights that happen because words were left unchecked.

Words can be both a powerful tool for growth and in equal measure a tornado that can devastate and cause major destruction if left unchecked.

It is words which incite people to commit acts of violence just as it is words which can unite and heal. Words have tremendous power, so it’s important to watch your words.

Think back to all the fights you have been involved in over the last two weeks, and as you look through the cause and effect, you will discover that the underlying reason was your desire to have control over everything.

Many of our fights are based on our desires, the things we want to have or hold on to. Our selfish desires can manifest in ways that can alter or change our characters.

Many a word said in anger is as a result of some desire that is individual in nature, not much conflict occurs as a result of a genuine desire to uplift others.

Our decision-making is influenced by the things that we view as important, things we have turned into “little gods” that have become the centre of our lives.

You can make a choice to limit the amount of incessant pain you endure as a result of meaningless conflict.

The LORD created all of us with the ability to control our emotions with His help, we need to call out to Him to help us navigate this maze that is life.

Trust Him and His ways and as you realise that He is in control of everything you will gradually begin to reduce the amount of effort you put into fighting with others to get your own way.

His will always prevail and when it does, your very best will emerge.

Be blessed.
