Philippians 4:13; “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
A while ago I was shocked to watch an informal settlement being built in rapid speed, right in front of my eyes. In no time hundreds of houses had mushroomed from nowhere. It was astonishing to see how quickly people can build once they get an opportunity to provide themselves with shelter.
We can do literally anything to achieve the things that we consider important. We will stop at nothing to get what we want. I find that aspect of humanity amazing, that when we fully embrace a cause we can do anything we desire.
So many people lack the ability to be motivated, to get up and do something. They will look for excuses at every turn and when they can’t find the excuse, they will invent one.
As I watched this multitude of homes coming up, I realised that human beings will stop at nothing in pursuit of fulfilling a need. Accommodation is a fundamental right that everyone wishes for and those who have it cherish it. When one gets the opportunity to own property, they will stop at nothing to realise that dream.
If the need to own or have shelter can drive people to build, with limited resources and all sorts of obstacles in front of them, imagine what you can do if you set your mind to excellence?
We sometimes look at the lives of others with envy and wonder why they are successful and we are not. Ask yourself, what steps have you taken to try and be the best you can be? What drives you every morning? Where are you investing your energy, passion and desire? It’s very easy to tell the passions of a man by what he invests in.
Do you know that the God you serve is so capable that the minute you start to draw from Him, you become this super human being that is unstoppable? You become inspired, innovative, highly motivated and in turn, successful.
We are who we want to be depending on where we choose to draw our strength from, where we seek our inspiration, where our motivation comes from and ultimately where our lives are anchored.
Some of our failures and drawbacks stem from where we have chosen to draw our inspiration and strength from. Look closely at all the people that are in your life and sphere of influence.
Who stands out from the rest, who is unique and different, who amazes you, who do you admire and want to be?
Be blessed.
