WALTER MUSONA came, saw and conquered.
The Zimbabwe international forward played a key role in powering Simba Bhora to their maiden league championship.
The forward took a gamble to end his union with FC Platinum.
Many questioned his decision.
To some extent, it made no sense since Simba Bhora had spent the better part of their maiden season flirting with relegation and finished 12th on the league table.
Musona was tasked to lead the ship upon his arrival and, like a true leader, he lived up to expectations.
And, he was even rewarded for his passion by the team’s director, Brighton Ushendibaba, who handed him a car.
The fortunes of Simba Bhora changed quickly and this week they celebrated their maiden league championship.
FC Platinum visit Wadzanai tomorrow and the former champions will give Musona and his men a guard of honour.
Simba Bhora secured the points they needed to be champions when they beat Arenel Movers 2-0 on Wednesday.
Now, tomorrow, they will get a chance to celebrate their maiden league title in front of their fans at Wadzanai.
Musona has scored 10 goals and has also registered 15 assists.
Simba Bhora chief striker, Tymon Machope, has 11 goals.
Musona has now won the championship twice in three seasons.
“This championship is for the Shamva community, we have won it because of their support and we are not going to stop giving back what we owe.
“It was not easy for us, our coaches, sponsors and leadership played a key role for us to celebrate this success today.
“I also want to thank my teammates for all the hard work and dedication, winning the championship is not an event, you have to avoid injuries and many things to maintain the balance,” said Musona.
If Simba Bhora avoid defeat tomorrow, they will complete the season without losing a game at their Wadzanai fortress.
