War vet Alois Nkomo dies

LIBERATION war hero and Zanu-PF district chairperson for Brunapeg area in Mangwe Cde Alois Nkomo has died. He was 54.
Cde Nkomo died on Monday morning at Brunapeg Hospital and was buried yesterday at his rural home in Brunapeg.In a statement, Zanu-PF district chairperson for Mangwe Cde Freddy Majazi described the death of Cde Nkomo as a severe blow to the party. He said Cde Nkomo worked tirelessly in ensuring the revolutionary party regained the district from MDC.

“During his term as party chairperson for Brunapeg area, Cde Nkomo worked tirelessly to rebuild the party. At the time of his death he had put in place party structures.

Cde Nkomo did his primary education at St Annes Primary from 1965 to 1971. He later attained his Junior Certificate.
In 1972 he joined the Brunapeg Zapu Youth League. He then joined the liberation struggle in 1977 in Zambia where he underwent military training.

After Independence he served in various capacities in Zanu-PF and the war veterans association. He is survived by seven children.
