War veterans have commended President Mnangagwa for rolling out economic empowerment programmes that are transforming the lives of liberation fighters.

Addressing the War Veterans National Assembly at Zanu PF Headquarters Cde Mahiya also said war vets are fully behind President Mnangagwa.

The meeting is running under the theme “Empowering War Veterans: Securing Land Title for Lasting Legacy and Prosperity”.

Cde Mahiya also congratulated President Mnangagwa following Zimbabwe’s election as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council for 2027.

“Your presence here today confirms your unwavering commitment to the welfare and strategic inclusion of the vanguard of our revolution, the war veterans,” said Cde Mahiya.

“You guide us not just as our Head of State, but as a distinguished senior war veteran who walked every step of the revolutionary journey and the very same trenches with us.”

Cde Mahiya said the President’s administration has delivered transformative empowerment programmes that have had a lasting impact on war veterans.

“We wish to acknowledge and celebrate the landmark empowerment initiatives that have deeply and dependently impacted on the lives of our veterans,” said Cde Mahiya

“The historic legacy of the land reform and your subsequent issuance of title deeds confirms your wise leadership.”

He particularly welcomed the land tenure programme and favourable financing terms approved for former freedom fighters.

“We express our deep appreciation, Your Excellency, for approving the highly favourable terms for freedom fighters, which includes cheap concessionary landings across all five agro-ecological regions, paired with a monumental additional 85 percent overall discount on land valuation,” he said.

“This decisive action ensures that the transition from offer letters to secure bankable title deeds remains economically accessible to every single veteran, seamlessly turning our hard-won land into multi-generational wealth.”

Cde Mahiya also applauded the establishment of institutional economic empowerment measures and thanked President Mnangagwa for supporting the creation of the War Veterans and Family Welfare Trust.

“We highly applaud the President for the landmark institutional instrument established in 2017 across key economic sectors for war veterans.”

“We thank you, Comrade President, for your full support in establishing the War Veterans and Family Welfare Trust.”
