A daring 25-year-old man from Masvingo’s Runyararo West suburb allegedly sneaked into a neighbour’s wardrobe and later pounced on an unsuspecting primary school girl, before sexually abusing her while she was removing her uniform.
Taurai Chabarika allegedly had anal sex with the eight-year-old girl.
Chabarika was not asked to plead when he appeared before Masvingo magistrate Mr Takawira Mugabe facing aggravated indecent assault charges.
Mr Mugabe remanded Chabarika in custody to November 14 for trial.
Prosecutor Mr Edmond Mapope alleged that on dates unknown between last year and sometime this year, Chabarika spotted the girl as she was coming from school.
He allegedly sneaked into the girl’s bedroom and hid in the wardrobe while waiting for his victim to get inside.
The unsuspecting girl got into the house and started removing her uniform.
Chabarika then pounced on the girl and pinndd her on the bed before having anal sex with her.
The matter came to light after the girl’s grandmother noticed that she was struggling to walk and upon further probing she discovered that she was discharging pus from her anus.
A report was made to the police leading to Chabarika’s arrest.
