in average exposures, the risk of ground frost would increase.
“To that extent, we expect ground temperatures to range between 0 to -1 degrees Celsius,” he said.
Mr Zinyemba said another cold spell was expected on Sunday June 16.
“By 16 June another cold spell is expected to start affecting the southern areas of the country, gradually spreading northwards. Expectations are that daytime temperatures again should drop to as low as 12–15 degrees Celsius. Naturally when a cold spell moves in, temperatures plummet. Masvingo on Monday recorded a maximum temperature of only 12 degrees while Chipinge and Buhera both recorded 13 degrees Celsius,” he said. Mr Zinyemba said it was impossible for the department to predict the degree to which temperatures would fall again but said the wintry weather was associated with low temperatures and windy conditions.
