He said this followed a directive by the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Infrastructural Development that all Government departments and ministries vehicles must be registered and licensed.

“It is true that the Ministry of Transport (Communications and Infrastructural Development) has instructed all ministries and Government departments to license all their vehicles with Zinara,” he said. “The vehicles should display licence discs like any other ordinary vehicle.”

Mr Chitukutuku said the move was necessitated by reports that some fraudsters were evading paying motor licences claiming to be driving Government vehicles.

“There are many people who are abusing the system and claiming to be driving vehicles belonging to Government when in actual fact they are personal vehicles,” he said.
