THE Warriors, who are out of the African Cup of Nations qualifiers, have tumbled out of the top 100 football-playing nations in the world, in yet another drawback for Zimbabwean football.
Zimbabwe’s ranking took a massive nine-place knock, as the Warriors fell into 101st position in the world, after FIFA released their rankings yesterday.
Last month the Warriors were among the best 100 teams in the world as they were placed in 92nd place. Zimbabwe have also fallen on the CAF rankings where the Warriors are now in 27th place.
They were 24th in Africa in September.
The Warriors had been on 90th place in the world in August.
The Young Warriors, representing the senior national team, lost a friendly international to Botswana, who have been punching bags in their 2015 Nations Cup group games.
The Young Warriors then beat Swaziland 2-0 in an international friendly.
While Zimbabwe are sliding down the ladder, ZIFA have been battling creditors who are attaching property at the association over unpaid debts.
Algeria remains the best ranked team in Africa and the Desert Foxes are now 15th in the world.
South Africa, who have been enjoying a transformation since Ephraim “Shakes” Mashaba took over as coach, are now Africa’s 10th best side.
