Warriors fall to Niger

THE Warriors’ African Nations Championships campaign got off to a heartbreaking start here last night as they fell to Niger at the Medani Stadium.

Niger got a winner they barely deserved on 76 minutes, substitute Abdoulkadaer Adamou latching on to a Qadr Amini clearance before drilling past a badly exposed Washington Arubi.
But it was Zimbabwe who started the brightest with Joel Ngodzo’s zipper cannoning off the crossbar while strikers Clive Kawinga and Charles Sibanda came close late in the game.
Meanwhile, in another Group match South Africa dispatched Ghana 2-1.-The Sunday Mail
